What is a chemical peel? A chemical peel, uses acids to dissolve multiple layers of dead skin cells. As you can imagine, taking off many layers of dead and dull skin, will drastically improve your skin’s tone and texture, leaving you with a brighter more youthful complexion. The new skin has not been exposed to the elements therefore has less sun damage, this is why chemical peels are typically used to treat fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, aging, acne, scarring, dull complexion, uneven skin tone, age spots, liver spots, freckles sun spots and dark patches. Is a chemical peel good for all skin types? Generally speaking, milder peels can be used on all skin types. However, darker skin tones, are more prone to a condition called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, (which is the darkening of the skin). If you have a naturally darker skin tone, you may want to consider a less aggressive treatment, ask your aesthetician what treatment may be right for you. *It is highly recommended to purchase an after care peel kit. For best results it is recommended to get peels in a series of 3 or more. Spacing the treatments out 3-5 weeks depending on what condition you are trying to treat. All peels are personalized to the individual client.
