What are the different kinds of LED light therapy? Different colors penetrate the skin to different depths. Depending on the level of skin it penetrates, LED light produces different effects. The most used colors in LED light therapy are blue or red , both are known for quickly being absorbed into the skin and neither are known to contain harmful ultraviolet light. Red light boosts cellular health and is used to treat epidermis, otherwise known as the outermost layer of skin. When infrared light is absorbed through this layer of skin, fibroblast cells are stimulated and this causes an increase of production of collagen proteins. An increase in collagen production can make the skin plumper, even and look smoother, which can drastically diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Blue light, is great for the oily skin or acne prone client because blue light kills bacteria and penetrates the deeper layers of skin and targets the oil glands. By reducing and balancing out the oil production this will reduce pore size, keep skin drier and clear with less acne breakouts. LED light therapy what is it and what should I expect? Light therapy may be used anywhere on the body, however it is most commonly used to treat sun damage on the face. To see real results multiple sessions are required for a typical treatment. LED light therapy can be used on all skin types. It does not burn the skin and is a pain free noninvasive treatment with no downtime. If you have an active rash, open sores or have used Accutane within 30 days LED light may not be recommended. Even though after only one LED light therapy treatment you will see a noticeable improvement, maintenance, follow up treatments is required for not only the best results but for lasting results! For the best results 2 treatments per week for one month then one treatment every 4-6 weeks is recommended. Customized light therapy stand-alone treatments
